Business and human rights regulatory compliance and litigation risks are becoming core concerns for many businesses wherever they operate. One of my tasks while working in bnt attorneys in CEE as well as during pro bono helping SME SPOLU NGO is to navigate increasingly complex and sometimes competing legal requirements in this area. We work with our clients as partners, investing time to understand their business objectives and needs and finding solutions to enable to meet the responsibilities to respect human rights and aspirations to make a positive social impact.
My work includes advising on human rights-related internal and external investigations, engagement with governments and civil society and the defense of enforcement actions as well as providing support and assisting with human rights due diligence in COVID-19 regulations in Slovakia as there is a general problem of regulatory availability. In other words, neither the business nor the employees have time to understand all the rapidly changing regulations. This certainly affects the availability of legal remedies if there is a dispute between a person and the business.
Through my FB account, I am trying to provide comprehensive advice on BHR issues in Slovakia not only to businesses but also to all Ukrainian migrants living in Slovakia (officially more than 12.000) in their native language as it is really important for them not only to know but also to understand their rights.
